13th of June- Completing 7 years of blogging
13th of June 2008: It was like any other day but unlike in many many ways. It was the first time that I woke up in Delhi that morning with no clue that I would be spending the next 7 years in the city pursuing ‘education’ at three different levels (My 10th Board results had just been declared). A combination of curiosity, lack of having anything else to do, a lot of inspiration and a little flair for writing- I think that’s what put me on this long journey that afternoon, 7 years ago.
I don’t know how much I have excelled in this ‘art’, the art of blogging. But yes, it feels amazing that I have been part of some great endeavours, which I never imagined when I started off on this journey 7 years ago. Indiblogger, Blogadda, blogging events, meets, drives- they have just been the icing on the cake.
There still are a few things left to be ticked off from the ‘blog’ bucket list and I look for suggestions for both:
One, a personal domain and facebook page (Not being able to decide a name is what is delaying the process. If I like your name suggestion and choose it, I promise unlimited free beer and/or a free movie for you, both on a Friday night!)
Two, sponsored trips for travel blogging (How to get travel companies get in touch with me and make them offer me trips? There is no way they won’t like my honest reviews and experiences about them! Let me live my dream, help me out fellow bloggers!)
I like change and this blog has gone through a huge amount of changes in these 7 years. From location to design, from name to aesthetics, there have been huge number of slow changes over the years. One thing has remained consistent: A blog post on the 13th of June every year celebrating my blog’s birthday.
And before I close this post, let me take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you, my readers, for this amazing journey. Seeing your comments below the post, seeing the addition of a new follower to the blog, seeing the visitor count increase slowly but consistently over the years- all of it added to this constant urge to write- that’s what compels me to continue blogging. Thank you!
And just in case you were wondering, here are the links to all the 13th of June posts:
Not many people stick to one form of expression for a very long time until it is benefiting them financially. I am glad I loved this and did this. Happy 7th birthday to on second thoughts… Cheers!
