Watch: Leukemia- Not Just a Disease! (Award Winning Documentary)

Two years ago, I worked on this documentary film, to be submitted as my graduation final project. It's been a long journey since then. The film has been screened at a few film festivals and won the top award at a recent student film festival in Delhi. It amazes me when people I do not even know, congratulate me for the film, the link to which they found by chance on youtube, because the film inspired them beyond imagination. Here I am sharing the final edit of the film for you to view, review, share and comment.

Synopsis:
Leukemia, or ‘blood cancer’, is one of the biggest causes of death among children today. Just imagine a situation when somebody in your closest family is the victim; how would you react? This is probably a very general statement. But for ones who have known people who have been victims of this deadly disease, this sentence probably sent shivers down their spine.

'Leukemia- Not Just A Disease!' (2013) tells the story of Akankshya, a 14-year old girl who had leukemia and who returned victorious from the face of death simply owing to her optimism and determination. As she and her family talk about the ordeal they went through for more than 3 years, we are faced with some very important questions dealing with our lives. Can't we just cast aside our worries for a moment and enjoy the moment in hand? Can being a little more optimistic make our lives a lot easier and happier?

Comments

  1. I can relate to the film completely, I have lost my father in law to cancer. He was a man who looked at everything positively and today I am strong because I have adopted his approach towards life. If life gives us pain, it gives us the strength to face it too :) Hats off to your guts and Proud of you Antharik!
